Here you will see the detailed guide on how to use CloneGo to copy, backup and restore Windows system or partition. This guide is divided into three parts, separately introducing the Copy, Backup & Restore, and Make Boot Disk function. Though the processes are different, they all share the same goal, which is to clone your Windows operating system or partition. Before following this guide, you need to download and install this software on your computer.
This part shows you the Copy function of CloneGo, with which you can copy Windows system or partition to another partition or external hard drive (SSD & HDD) within three steps. It is worth mentioning that the destination should have enough space to store the copied partition.
Step 1: Open CloneGo and click Copy option on the left panel.
Step 2: Firstly, select system or a partition that you want to copy as the source target under the Select a source target. Then select a partition as the destination to store the copied system or partition under the Select a destination target. Note that if you choose system disk as a source target, the destination must be a partition of a different hard drive (HDD or SSD).
Step 3: Click Start button and then click OK button on the popup window to continue operating. Note that this operation will format the destination partition, so you would better to back up the data in advance.
Step 4: Wait for a while until the "Mission completed" window appears. Finally, the system or partition has been copied successfully to the destination.
This part illustrates the Backup & Restore function of CloneGo, with which you can back up the whole Windows system or partition as an archive file and restore it to any other partition or external hard drive.
Step 1: Open CloneGo and click Backup option on the left panel.
Step 2: Select system disk or other volume that you want to back up in the Select a volume to back up section box.
Step 3: Click Choose button and navigate to the location that you want to save the backup file. Then click Save button.
Step 4: Click Start button and then click OK on a confirmation window to continue.
Step 5: Wait for a while until the "Mission Completed" window appears. Finally, the system or partition has been backed up successfully.
Step 1: Open CloneGo and click Restore option on the left panel.
Step 2: Click Choose button and navigate to the backup file. Then click Open button to select the backup file.
Step 3: Select one partition as the destination under the Select the restoration destination. Note that the destination partition should have enough space and it will be formatted so it is recommended to back up the data on it ahead of time.
Step 4: Click Start to start restoring the backup file. When a window pops up asking if you are sure to restore the file, click OK to continue.
Step 5: Wait for a while until the "Mission Completed" window appears. Finally, the system or partition has been restored successfully.
This part shows the Make Boot Disk function of CloneGo, which allows you to clone your Windows system or partition from a boot disk. In this way, you can clone your system or partition more completely.
Before following the steps, you should make sure that a USB flash drive has connected to your computer.
Step 1: Open CloneGo and click Make Boot Disk option on the top right corner of interface.
Step 2: On the Choose wim file window, select Create PE in current system environment option and click OK.
Step 3: On Device Option window, select the USB flash drive and click Make button.
Step 4: When you are prompted that this operation will format the USB drive, click OK to continue. Then wait for a while until the progress reaches 100%. Finally, a WinPE boot disk has been created successfully.
Step 1: Turn off your computer and turn it again. When it is starting up, you can access the Boot Menu by pressing one of several keyboard keys (F12, F10, Esc).
Step 2: Choose to boot your computer from a USB flash drive.
Step 3: Wait for a while and you will see the CloneGo shown on the screen. Then you can use CloneGo to copy, backup and restore Windows system or partition.
