Chrome: How to Fix Scrollbar Not Working Issue

You're using Google Chrome like any other day, but for some reasons the scrolling is not working. And when you open other search engines, the scrolling feature works fine. Then you should notice that there is nothing wrong with your mouse, it is a specific issue to Google Chrome scrolling. So you need to try a few methods to use Google Chrome seamlessly like before.

Erase chrome user profile data

Step 1: Press Windows+R key together to open Run dialog box. And type the following into the box.

       %LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\
       

Then click OK.

Step 2: A series of folders will be displayed in front of you. Find the folder that's named Default. Rename that folder to default.backup.

Note: You can undo this if you ever change your mind by renaming the folder Default.

Disable chrome extension

Step 1: Open your Chrome, click the three-dotted menu icon at the top-right corner of your Chrome, and select More tools and Extensions.

Step 2: Now you can see all the extensions displayed in front of you, disable the extensions by clicking the toggle button.

Use chrome's built-in cleaner

Step 1: After opening the three-dotted menu icon at the top-right corner of Chrome, click Settings. Next scroll down to find and click Advanced, then choose Reset and clean up.

Step 2: Under Reset and clean up, choose Clean up computer, and click the blue Find button. You might need to wait a while because the process will take some time to complete. Should Chrome find anything, go ahead and let it clean things up.

Step 1: Repeat steps1 and steps2 above.

Step 2: Under Reset and clean up, click Restore settings to their original defaults.

Step 3: A message warning will appear, click the blue Reset settings button.

Toggle scroll inactive windows option

Step 1: Close any Chrome tabs.

Step 2: Search for Settings in the Windows search bar, and select Devices option.

Step 3: Then select the mouse & touchpad.

Step 4: Here you will find a toggle button beneath the Scroll inactive windows when I hover over them.

Step 5: Enable and disable it, repeat this process three to four times until the wheel is working properly in Chrome.
