How to Mute Noisy Tabs in Google Chrome
There is no worse web experience than when you open a website and it plays you unwanted music or auto-playing video ads. Especially when you work at your desk and music and voices come from your computer, it may make your boss think you're loafing on the job.
That's why almost all web browsers let you mute tabs. The mute tab feature mutes everything in a particular tab, which means that even the loudest video ads won't bother you.
So in this article, we will show you how to find and quiet noisy tabs in chrome browser on your computer.
Mute a single tab
Step 1: Locate a tab with the speaker icon on it, the speaker icon indicates that this web pages is currently playing sound.
Step 2: Right-click a tab that you want to mute. Select Mute site.
Tip: When you want to unmute it, right-click a tab that is on that website again and select Unmute site.
Install the tab muter extension
Step 1: Open the Tab Muter page and click Add to Chrome.
Step 2: Click Add extension.
Step 3: You will see an icon that looks like a black speaker in your Extension list. When you want to mute a tab, open the tab and click the icon of Extensions, then choose that black speaker icon. It will silence the tab.
Tip: When you want to unmute the tab, just click that black speaker icon again.
