Solved: Mouse Cursor Freezes, Jumps or Disappears in Windows 10/11
Freezing or jumping cursor can be very annoying since keyboard shortcuts cannot be used as a substitute in most cases. This mouse impairment can cause a lot of troubles, especially when you are playing computer games or dealing with important or urgent work. So, what to do if mouse cursor keeps freezing, jumping or disappearing? In this post, we will share some simple fixes with you. If your mouse cursor is disappeared, you can press Crtl+Alt+Delete to have your cursor back temporarily and then try applying the below approaches.
1. Disable the disappearing feature
Step 1: Type and search Control Panel in the search bar and open it.
Step 2: Select Hardware and Sound > Mouse.
Step 3: In Mouse Properties window, select Pointer Options and uncheck Hide pointer while typing. Click OK to save changes.
Step 4: Close all the windows and restart your system.
2. Disable mouse pointer precision feature
In Mouse Properties window, uncheck Enhance pointer precision and click OK to apply changes.
3. Disable USB root hub save power option
Step 1: Press Windows+X and select Device Manager from the menu.
Step 2: Expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers and find the USB root hub which is connected to your mouse. Then right-click on it and select Properties.
Step 3: Select Power Management option, uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power and click OK.
Note: If you can't find the one connected to your mouse, repeat the steps for all USB root hub options.
4. Run a mouse troubleshoot
Press Windows+I to open Settings and select Devices> Mouse> Troubleshooting my mouse.
5. Run a full system scan
Step 1: Press Windows+I to open Settings and select Update&Security> Windows Security> Virus&threat protection.
Step 2: Select Scan options.
Step 3: Choose Full scan and click on Scan now.
This process might take an hour, please wait until it finishes.
6. Reinstall or update the mouse driver
Step 1: Press Windows+X and select Device Manager from the menu.
Step 2: Expand Mice and other pointing devices and right-click on your mouse driver. Then click-on Uninstall device.
Step 3: Back to the Device Manager window, select Action option> Scan for hardware changes. Then your mouse drivers will automatically installed.
Alternatively, you can also try to update the driver. Select Update driver from the right-click context menu.
After you've done all, reboot your PC.
7. Tweak registry settings to enable disappearing cursor
Step 1: Press Windows+R to open run command and type regedit in the open box. Click OK to open Registry Editor.
Step 2: Navigate to the below path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
Step 3: Find a key named EnableCursorSupression, double-click on it and set the value data from 1 to 0 in the pop-up window. Then click OK.
Step 4: Close Registry Editor window and reboot your Windows.
