How to Set an Animated GIF as Your Wallpaper in Windows 10/11
Are you tired of the standard blue wallpaper or typical static background in Windows? Do you want to make your computer desktop special and attractive? Then what about using GIF wallpapers?
Although Windows 10 offers plenty of personalization options for you to customize your operating system, the Windows default settings do not support setting animated wallpapers and thus, we need to make use of third-party applications. Here, we will share 3 free software you can use to apply animated GIFs as your wallpaper in Windows 10/11.
1. Set Animated GIF Wallpaper using BioniX
Download: BioniXStep 1: After you download BioniX, choose a destination folder to install and then it will automatically open after installation.
Step 2: Click Next in the Preparation window.
Step 3: Choose Full user interface option and click OK. If the skin selector window pops up, just close it.
Step 4: Select Countdown tab and click the stop button to prevent automatic wallpaper changes because local images are constantly fetched from the computer and automatically switched to wallpaper with initial settings.
Step 5: Select Playlist tab and click on the clear playlist icon. Then click OK in the Heads up window. This will remove all the imported media files.
Step 6: You can get a lot of GIFs from GIPHY. Drag and drop the GIF which you want to set as wallpaper into the blank playlist. Then click the start button and you will see a different wallpaper.
If you want to choose a GIF from local files, click on the folder icon and you can browse files from File Explorer.Step 7: Make sure BioniX is running at background by minimizing it. As long as it is running, your GIF wallpaper can continue playing.
Other features: You can also select more than one GIFs into the playlist, set the switching time before you click the play button to start. If you want to be surprised by the order of the background changes, turn on the Shuffle mode toggle.
2. Set Animated GIF Wallpaper using rePaper
Download: rePaperStep 1: Extract the zip file and click on the Start.exe to get started.
Step 2: Right click the rePaper icon in the system tray and select Choose Wallpaper.
Step 3: Once you've selected the media file, right-click the rePaper icon again and select Settings.
Step 4: Choose Fill option after Wallpaper Scaling and click Apply.
3. Set Animated GIF Wallpaper using Lively Wallpaper
Step 1: Download Lively Wallpaper from Microsoft store.
Step 2: Open the app from the system tray. Click the add icon.
Step 3: You can drag or drop a picture into the specific area, choose a media file from local files or copy the URL of the web page of the picture.
Step 4: Click OK in the next window.
