Internet Connected but Only Google Sites Work: How to fix it

Have you ever faced a strange situation where your internet is connected but you can only access Google sites like Google search, YouTube and Gmail. All of other websites, including the search results and all the programs like Steam that needed internet connection are unable to load. This problem makes it impossible to enjoy the leisure time playing on the computer. In this post, we have listed some possible solutions to help you fix cannot access websites except for Google sites.

1. Restart the router

In some cases, a simple reboot is probably the most effective way to solve network connectivity problems. To restart a router, it should be left unplugged for at least 30 seconds and then plugged back in. Or you can press the power button and wait for a few minutes before you restart the router.

2. Try using Ethernet

If you always use the wireless connection, maybe you can try switching to a wired connection. An Ethernet cable connection may help with some problematic devices.

3. Restore Windows Firewall to default

Step 1: Search Windows Defender Firewall in the search bar and open it.

Step 2: Select Restore defaults.

Step 3: Click on Restore defaults option in the next window.

4. Change DNS settings

Step 1: Press Windows + I to open Settings and select Network & Internet. Choose Ethernet or Wifi and click on Change adapter options on the right pane.

Step 2: Right-click on your currently network connection and select Properties.

Step 3: Double-click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) in the next window.

Step 4: Under General tab, choose Use the following DNS server addresses option. Then enter 8.8.8.8 next to Preferred DNS server and 8.8.4.4 next to Alternate DNS server.

5. Clear the DNS cache

Step 1: Type cmd in the search bar and select Run as administrator.

Step 2: Enter the below command and hit Enter to launch it.

Ipconfig /flushdns

6. Reset the TCP/IP

Step 1: Open Command Prompt as administrator.

Step 2: Execute the following commands one by one:

netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Step 3: Close the Command Prompt window after enter each command line and then execute the next one. After finishing all, restart your system.

7. Reinstall Google Chrome

Step 1: Open Settings and select Apps > Apps & features.

Step 2: Locate Google Chrome from the list of apps and click on Uninstall. Then download Chrome.

8. Reinstall network adapter driver

Step 1: Press Windows+X and select Device Manager from the context menu.

Step 2: Expand Network adapters, right-click on your network and select Uninstall driver.

Step 3: Click on the Scan for hardware changes icon to reinstall the adapter.

Step 4: Restart your device after the adapter driver back up to the list.
