How to Use Google Chrome Remote Desktop to Achieve Remote Access and Support

Google Chrome Remote Desktop provides two useful features, namely Remote Access and Remote Support. The Remote Access feature can allow you to access the files or documents on your desktop from other computers or mobile device when you are away. And the Remote Support feature can allow you to share screens with friends from afar or grant them control over your desktop to provide remote support for you.
1. Download and install Chrome Remote Desktop
If you haven’t used Chrome Remote Desktop before, it’s needed to download and install it first.
Step 1: Search https://remotedesktop.google.com/access for Remote Access or https://remotedesktop.google.com/support for Remote Support in Google Chrome search bar according to your need. Here I choose Remote Access for an example.
Step 2: Click on the blue downloading button.
Step 3: Click on Add to Chrome.
Step 4: Click on Add extension.
Step 5: Click on Accept & Install.
Step 6: Double click on the chromeremotedesktophost.
Step 7: Click on Yes. Then the Chrome Remote Desktop will be added to Google Chrome and you can find it in extension.
2. Use Chrome Remote Desktop for Remote Access
When you need to access files and applications on your computer but have not taken it with you due to going out or on vacation, you can use the Remote Access feature on your mobile device or someone else's computer to access the desktop on your computer.
(1) Set up remote access
Before accessing your computer from afar, you need to set up remote access to your computer first.
Step 1: On the Remote Access interface, click Turn on to set up remote access.
Step 2: Enter a name for your computer then click on Next.
Step 3: Set a PIN then click on Start.
Step 4: Click on Yes. Then the remote access will be set up to your computer successfully.
(2) Access a remote desktop
When you need to remotely access your computer from another computer or mobile device, you can operate with the following steps.
Step 1: Log in to your same Google account.
Step 2: Enter the Remote Access surface in Chrome Remote Desktop, then you can find the desktop you set up last time, just click on it.
Note: If your remote computer is offline, the connection will fail. Please make sure it is turned on and connected to the internet.
Step 3: Enter the PIN and click on the arrow on the right.
Then you can access your remote desktop successfully. If you want to end the access, simply close your tab.
3. Use Chrome Remote Desktop for Remote Support
When you want to share your screen with your friends or get remote support from them, you can use the Remote Support feature in Chrome Remote Desktop.
Step 1: On the Remote Support surface, click Generate Code in Share this screen bar.
Step 2: Sent the code to your friends in five minutes.
Step 3: Your friends should enter the code in the Connect to another computer bar and click on Connect within the same five minutes.
Step 4: After that, the following dialog box will pop up in your computer to ask for your permission, just click on Share.
Now you are sharing your desktop with your friends, and both you and your friends can control your desktop. When you're finished, close your tab to stop sharing.
